This is the Home of the Sweetest Little Chickens on Earth!
~The only Chickens we Breed are Seramas~
Welcome!
A Note about our Pictures! We have NEVER Trained any of our Birds to Pose!
The Complete Ancestry of the Serama is unknown, it is Believed that the Japanese Bantam (Japan's Version), and the Malaysian Village Chicken all played a part.
I have also Heard the Jungle Fowl is involved... But that is true of all Chickens.
It is said to be a New Breed, but I think there is more to the Story.
I can Imagine the Village Chicken Blood would be were the Attraction to People , and the Trait for Tameness comes from,The Ones that stayed in Close Contact with the People, were Safe from Predators and got Played with by the Kids, ect. The Favorites were Favored and did not get Eaten, at Least not as Soon as they otherwise would have been!
I would encourage anyone interested in keeping Seramas to do a Good Web search on them. There is a lot of Good info. available, BUT also there is a lot of B.S.
Just Paired up... Both 2011 Hatched. First Cross Little Red, and Hook Blood Lines!
Just some Thoughts
I Will Honestly say I do not Care Much for the "Improved" American Type of Serama, nearly as much as I do the Malaysian, or Traditional Serama, or even My own Family of Seramas.
In my Opinion the American looks to much like any other type of Bantam Chicken.
As has been Said, if the Serama becomes Just a "Cookie Cutter" Breed, the Best Part of them will be Lost...
This has happened with many Less Unique Breeds of Poultry over the Years.
I have no Problem with People Breeding any Breed of Poultry to Standard, If a Person has the "KNACK", Facilities, and Connections, or Money to Purchase Stock. It is NOT Brain Surgery.
I have Shown Poultry, Sheep, Pigeons, Rabbits Ect. on and Off my Whole Life. Winning Trophies, Ribbons is Exciting at First... But for Me no Trophy was ever as Exciting as Just Working with, and Breeding these Lovely Birds...
Believe it or Not, The Serama is the only Reason I even Keep Chickens at all anymore.
I really Wish I could see Pictures of the First Imported Serama!
I Have Read there were a Few Different Types..... WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU? I Believe The Original Exporters/Breeders Knew something we will MESS up over here.
" WORKS OF ART ARE NOT MADE WITH COOKIE CUTTERS".
(The above is a Quote from Jerry, of Jerrys Seramas LLC)
Judges are just People.... Back in the Day, I gave away all my Cornish Bantams, Indian Runners, and Muscovies... Because COLOR started to Trump Type.
Three Breeds were TYPE is very Important.
This is Just my very humble Opinion...
Which I am sure no one wants to Hear.. LOL! Dave

A Little Information on Breeding Seramas
Seramas do not Breed True to any one Color. I imagine it is not uncommon to Hatch 6 Different Colors out of a Dozen Eggs!
As it stands now, with the Current (But Sad) Desire to Color Breed them, this Lovely Trait will go by the Wayside....... BUT NOT AT LUCKY TOUCH SERAMAS!
For the Life of me, Why would anyone want to turn this Lovely Little Bird into just another Breed of Bantam? For us, Color is important ONLY to the point that our Youngsters are Beautiful, and Attractive.
Our Criteria is: >TAMENESS< >CONFIRMATION< >SIZE< Than we will pick for Color.
That is one of the many reasons we fell in Love with them, a Flock with just about any Color Chicken you could want! Serama do not Breed True to Size, Out of a Clutch of 10 Chicks, one can expect 1 or 2 to
be very Small, 2 or 3 to be rather Large and the remainder to be within the Normal Size Range for Serama.
I am sure this Trait has discouraged many People who do, or would Bred them,
The Thing most People miss is that Large Birds can, and will Breed Small youngsters, but they are Given away or Sold as "Pet quality", which seems Strange to me because the main purpose of the Breed, (at least to us) is to be a PET!
Something else that most People do not understand, Egg Size, or Chick Size does not Generally indicate Adult Size. you can get a Pretty Good Idea once they get a Week or Two of Growth on them, I have had some HUGE Chicks turn out very Small, and A LOT ofTiny Chicks turn out Big.
Egg size does not always indicate much either, as most Pullets Tend to Lay Small Eggs,
which usually Grow up to be Normal Sized Birds.
So for the Person just Starting out, do not dismiss Larger birds when choosing your First Stock........ as long as they are Tame, and have Good Body Confirmation.
REMEMBER, even a Larger Serama can, and will Produce Young in all Size Classes.

Why Seramas?
Seramas are the Ultimate Pet Chicken!
Our Seramas are our Pets and our Hobby!
~ Seramas are Tame and Loving by Nature~
~ Seramas make a Great addition to any Garden~
~ Despite what has been Written, Seramas are just as~
~Cold Hardy as any other Bantam Breed of Chicken~
~(5 Years and not a Single Frozen Comb)~
~ Seramas have Great Personalities ~
~ Everyone Loves Seramas!~
~ Our Breeders produce mostly A and B, sized Birds~
All of our Breeding Hens have raised at least one Clutch of Eggs on there own
We are working with of Three different "Familys" of Seramas
Here are the Size Categories:
Cocks
~A - up to 13 oz (350 gm)~
~B - up to 16 oz (500 gm)~
~C - up to 19 oz (600 gm)~
Hens
~A - up to 11 oz (325 gm)~
~B - up to 14 oz (425 gm)~
~C -up to 17 oz (525 gm)~
Class A Hens are not normally Reproductive, as they are so small they can not always lay a normal egg,We are sure there might be exceptions, but We have not seen many!!!
The Variety of Colors makes each Hatch Exciting!
Why Seramas?
I have kept, and shown Chickens on and off my whole life. I had Grand Champion Duck at the Illinois State Fair 1972, ( Junior year of High School)
I have Shown, or bred for show, many Breeds and varieties of Poultry, from Bantams to Geese.
Several years ago I started reading anything I could find on Seramas, and decided they were the Chicken for us!
It took some looking to find breeding stock, but 12 chicks and years later we are in Love! And now they are the only breed for us!
*Do a Web search, there is a lot of info out there!*
We breed for natural tameness, Good type, and Size, and interesting Colors
.
Normally , in our Breeding program we sell no Chicks, and no eggs. Why? doing so is like "giving away the Farm"
A Breeder is always looking to upgrade his breeding stock from within. When a breeder sells eggs, or chicks, the Breeder is for sure giving some one else "first pick" of their future Breeding stock ........................As a side note we will NEVER again, waste our time having Serama eggs shipped, or ship any! what a waste!
We are located in Westmont, il.

This is Charlie, with his Girls........ Charlie is now Retired, and now resides with a Young Man we met at a Local Swap! A very Sweet Pet!

All our Seramas are Pets, but Charlie and is one of our favorites
One of the neatest things about Seramas is that they are so Tame, and like people so much, we are able to let them loose when we go to Swap Meets! You do not see that very often.........................
I have had People ask me Wow...... Won't they Run off? Why would they? They LOVE People!
Seramas are Hard to find, even Harder to find with the Trait for Tamness properly Bred into them, as ours have.....................
We truly Love our Seramas ........They make our Yard a Wonderland!
